How does your role contribute to the overall functioning and success of the airport?

The role of Aerodrome Operations Officer ensures the airport is compliant and operational from a safety and security perspective.

I make sure that if an issue arises, I can attend to that and make sure everything is returned back to normal, including making sure the airport is compliant and ticks all the boxes.

Can you describe your typical day or responsibilities in your current airport role?

A typical day for me starts first thing in the morning with a service building inspection on the airfield to make sure everything is compliant on the runways, taxiways, and the airspace around the airport. For example, making sure that no crane is infringing services. Basically, I ensure everything is operational for the aircraft and there is no issues airside.

Are there any specific certifications, training programs, or courses that you recommend for someone aspiring to work in the airport industry?

I believe a good foot in the door within the aviation industry for someone that is looking at starting is picking up any airport job you can find, and building from there. It is always going to lead to your ideal career path in the aviation industry.

Tell us about the most rewarding part of your job.

The most rewarding part of my job is leaving the airfield a safer place than you found it.
