Tell us about some of the opportunities for growth or advancement you’ve encountered in your job.

My story is quite unique. I started as an intern at Perth Airport. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do so when I came in it was fantastic to get a little bit of a taste for what the airport was about.

I then applied for a graduate role, where I got across all facets of the airport, and did four months in every sector. You get a little bit of experience, and you get to know everybody across the sector.

From there I went into security, and I am now a security operations specialist.

Are there any specific projects or initiatives you've been involved in that you're particularly proud of?

A project that I was involved in that I'm very proud of is the trial of the remote screening room. We will be one of the first teams in Australia to have done this trial and if we implement it, we'll be one of the first airports in Australia to have a remote screening room. It's very exciting to be a part of that team and to develop an idea, so it was an incredible experience.

How does your role contribute to the overall functioning and success of the airport?

My role contributes to the functioning and overall success of the airport because without security, there would be no license to run an airport.

Tell us about the importance of teamwork and collaboration in your job and the wider airport industry.

Teamwork and collaboration at the airport is imperative to my job. Every day I'm dealing with at least four or five stakeholders, whether that means internal or external, and it's incredible because the support comes from everywhere.
