How does your role contribute to the overall functioning and success of the airport?
My role in aviation at Canberra Airport it's focused around the compliance and ensuring that what we're doing is what is required under the legislation and the regulations that we are subject to.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering a career in the industry?
Whatever experience you bring can and will be a benefit to the any role within the sector and to aviation as a whole. From videographers to accountants, plumbers, admin professionals and technical roles, there is something for everyone.
Tell us about some of the opportunities for growth or advancement you’ve encountered in your job.
I've been really fortunate that in the 10 years that I've been here, my role has grown with me as my experience, knowledge and expertise grows.
Are there any specific projects or initiatives you've been involved in that you're particularly proud of?
An initiative that I've been working on and championing within our organisation is the review of all our disability accessibility documentation and training across our security and our customer service areas within our airport.
I’ve had wonderful opportunities to work with various charities in Australia and Canberra and build a culture that will be embedded at the airport. I'm really proud to see how the security team picked this up and that the communication and the culture is changing around disability and accessibility, and I think that's great. It's only good things to come.
